About

Natural Currency Calculator lets you type money the way you actually say it — mix symbols, words, and languages in a single line — and converts it live into the currency you want. No dropdown gymnastics, no copy-pasting between fields.

For example, 10000 долларов + 3000 евро в рублях just works: it understands the amounts, the currencies, and the target you asked for, then adds everything up.

How it works

Your query is parsed into amounts and currencies, summed across currencies, and converted using official reference rates. You can also tweak individual amounts or add currencies in the breakdown to explore different totals.

Trip mode

The Trip tab answers a different question: you're travelling from one country to another, and you want to know whether to change your money at home or when you get there. Tell it what you're carrying and where you're going, and it prices the plausible routes — change directly at your destination, change before you leave, or buy dollars or euros at home and spend them there — then ranks what you end up holding.

Each leg is priced by the feed of the country where that exchange happens, which is the only reason the routes differ at all: within a single country's rates, going via dollars is arithmetically identical to going direct. When both ends of your trip are priced by the same source, the panel says so instead of naming a winner.

These are official mid-rates, not bureau rates. Central banks and our gap-filler publish the midpoint of the market; a bureau, bank or ATM takes a spread on top, typically far larger than the difference between any two routes here. So the ranking on published rates is a starting point, not the answer. Open any route and type in the rate you're actually quoted — everything re-prices and re-ranks around your real numbers.

Where the rates come from

Exchange rates come from central banks wherever we have one: the Central Bank of Russia (CBR), the European Central Bank (ECB) for the euro area, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB). All are refreshed regularly and cached for speed. For currencies none of them publishes, we fill the gap using ExchangeRate-API — a central bank's own rate always wins where it has one, and the gap-filler only steps in where it doesn't. These are reference rates for general information — they are not live trading rates, and the rate your bank or payment provider gives you may differ.

Which bank prices a given exchange depends on where it happens, which is what makes Trip mode's comparison meaningful: a rouble-to-lari trade in Moscow is priced by the CBR, the same trade in Tbilisi by the NBG, and the two rarely agree exactly.
